2Fort is the one server who suffers from this absolutely inane item the most, as avoiding snipers means giving up the entire bridge fight and mid control so I will start this post with telling you to jog on with your "just don't get shot" argument.
A decent sniper with the DDS is a nightmare since he is no longer countered by his own class and as such has no natural counters.
1) 2Fort is terrible for spies so this is not a reliable option.
2) Headshotting jumping soldiers and demomen is also not an issue so this point of a counter is also moot.
3) Scouts have to cross top bridge first and are basically an easy target unless the wonky hit detection screws you over in 1 of 10 cases
4) Getting them from behind with any class will also be a ton of fun as a good sniper exercises so much map pressure that his team will turtle around spawn and yard, thus making it close to impossible for enemies to get behind and if they do, they are still just one click away from failing miserably.
The DDS in its essence was probably created to give bad snipers a chance at outplaying a good sniper but what it turned out as was an item that allowed bad snipers to absolutely not be countersniped if they are not absolutely retarded and good snipers to stop dying and exercise a zone control that is simply unreal.
Usually the way most maps are constructed, it is possible to avoid said sniper or simply flank em if you have enough team presence. 2Fort gives the sniper control over the entire mid section however and he becomes impossible to avoid as rushing sewers is not very smart and countered by a single sticky trap and flanking him at top is also just inane luck.
The Cancer Shield needs to be removed to make gameplay healthier and to eliminate situations where the game becomes Turtle Fortress because one team has just absolutely lost hope because being out in the open instantly gets you killed by that 3 way sniper combo.
